| A legend has it, that St. Wenceslas Vineyard, situated on the slope by the eastern side of the Prague Castle, belonged to St. Wenceslas himself. That´s the origin of its name. St. Wenceslas, the Christian martyr, Premyslid prince and patron of Bohemia, lived in the 10th century. However, the vineyard was actually founded as late as in 1375 by Emperor Charles IV. It was modified as a garden in the 19th century and it is one of the Prague Castle´s gardens nowadays. A beautiful Classicist villa, where a restaurant will be opened soon, is situated there. |
